Gotta love some football. Well. today was the 49th Super Bowl game and my mom wanted me to make some football themed cupcakes. First of all, I love trying new decorating ideas and once my mom told me, my mind was filling up with ideas. Did I want to decorate each individual cupcake to represent one of the two teams? Do I want to make a cupcake cake? Do I have the right piping tips? This happens way too often so I just search online for some ideas and let me tell you, there were A LOT. I couldn't decide which one was doable, easy, yet impressive. Finally, I decided on a football field theme for each individual cupcake.
Of course there were some bumps in the road to making these but that's what improvisation is for! Right? Yes, right. I the end, they came out great! Let me break it down for you: it is a moist chocolate cake with vanilla butter-cream frosting for the "grass" and "yard-lines" and then the footballs are made from chocolate chips that I just melted down, piped the shapes onto wax paper, then tossed them in the freezer to harden. You don't know how excited I was while I was putting it all together; I was making some weird squealing sounds. I'm so glad to know that I am capable of doing something like this and with little resources. I've been wanting that piping tip that makes the grass effect but this star-tip worked just as well.
This was my Super Bowl experience this year and I hope my decorating skills have improved for next years game. I wonder who it'll be then, the 50th Super Bowl. Wow. That's going to be something special, I better start planning now! Have a great day everyone and stay safe!
Love, Renee
